From 1 October 2026, U.S. doctors and hospitals can use two new diagnosis codes to write down what actually happened: gender dysphoria that went into remission, and a personal history of detransition.

CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics posted the FY2027 ICD-10-CM files for healthcare from 1 October 2026 through 30 September 2027. The official tabular addenda add:
- F64.A — Gender identity disorder, in remission. The extra official term is “Gender dysphoria, in remission (desistance).” - Z87.893 — Personal history of gender detransition.
Clinics and insurers can now mark those outcomes in the record instead of leaving them invisible. A code is not a treatment rule.
