On September 4, 2026, the Justice Department announced an agreement with Mount Sinai Health System, one of New York's largest providers. Mount Sinai will stop providing sex-rejecting procedures to minors — including puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries. It will also pay a monetary penalty and dedicate $2 million to free medical care for people harmed by sex-rejecting procedures they received as children.
This follows earlier DOJ agreements with Texas Children's Hospital, Cleveland Clinic, and Connecticut Children's Hospital under the nationwide investigation into the child gender-transition industry.
DOJ is clear on one point the media will bury: the claims resolved are allegations only, there has been no determination of liability, and Mount Sinai denied all allegations. The procedures on kids stop anyway.
