Trans Care BC is a provincial clinical program of the Provincial Health Services Authority. A 1 February 2024 PHSA statement says that program plans trans health services across B.C., and that the Gender Clinic at BC Children’s Hospital may include puberty blockers and opposite-sex hormones, with oversight from pediatric specialists.
Trans Care BC’s puberty-blockers page says blockers may be started soon after puberty begins, often by a pediatric endocrinologist, and that youth under 19 go through a readiness assessment. It says the blocker used most often in B.C. is Lupron Depot, covered by BC PharmaCare. BC Children’s Hospital publishes a Lupron Depot program for gender dysphoria and consent forms for puberty blockers, estrogen, and testosterone.
