In 2021, Fudan University Children’s Hospital (National Children’s Medical Center, Shanghai) opened what the hospital calls China’s first multidisciplinary clinic for transgender children and adolescents. After ethics-committee review, endocrinology/genetic metabolism, psychology, urology, and social work assess, diagnose, offer psychological treatment, and necessary drug intervention. In the hospital’s published case narrative, clinicians advised stabilizing mood, then medication to suppress menstruation, with surgery left for adulthood.
