The Health Service Executive is writing a Model of Care for Gender Healthcare — a clinical framework for how services will be delivered. As of 2026 that model has not been published as a finished restriction. Irish children have been referred abroad for assessment.
A doctors’ complaint to HIQA, and later court leave to challenge how that complaint was handled, sits with the regulator and the courts. The HSE has not published a restriction. The Oireachtas has not passed a statute. Ireland is under review.
Schools. NCCA Senior Cycle SPHE (specification 2024) is a mandatory component with a Relationships and Sexuality strand. Junior Cycle SPHE was updated for first years from September 2023.
