On 20 March 2026 the Assembly approved it na generalidade (first reading) — A favor: PSD, CH, CDS-PP; Contra: PS, IL, L, PCP, BE, PAN, JPP — and sent it to the Comissão de Assuntos Constitucionais, Direitos, Liberdades e Garantias for especialidade. That is still a projeto de lei. It has not been finally voted, promulgated, or published as law.
