STF restores CFM Resolution 2.427/2025 after the Acre pause

On 2 October 2025, Justice Flávio Dino of Brazil’s Supremo Tribunal Federal issued a provisional decision in Reclamação (Rcl) 84653 suspending a Federal Court of Acre injunction that had paused CFM Resolution 2.427/2025.

CFM Resolution 2.427/2025 (8 April 2025, published in the DOU 16 April) prohibits physicians from prescribing hormone blockers for gender incongruence or dysphoria in children and adolescents, with recognised endocrine exceptions including precocious puberty. Cross-sex hormones are prohibited before 18. Sterilizing surgeries are not before 21. Already-started treatment is grandfathered.

A first-instance court in Acre suspended the resolution. On 3 October 2025 CFM reported that STF Justice Flávio Dino suspended that Acre order and restored the resolution in full (Reclamação 84.653) until the Supreme Court judges the concentrated-control actions on the merits. The Supreme Court’s own news page on the restore is dated 7 October 2025. That is a restore of a council rule.
