This is Queensland’s public system. NSW, Victoria, and Canberra still run public clinic pathways.
On 19 December 2025 Health Minister Tim Nicholls released the Independent Review Advice Report led by Professor Ruth Vine. The ministerial statement: the evidence base for Stage 1 (puberty suppression) and Stage 2 (cross-sex hormones) for minors with gender dysphoria is limited, and there is a paucity of evidence about other long-term risks or benefits.
Cabinet’s decision, on that same page: the pause on initiating Stage 1 and Stage 2 in Queensland public hospitals continues pending the results of the UK PATHWAYS trial in 2031. Existing patients continue to receive treatment from Children’s Health Queensland. Non-medical support stays available.
That is a public-system pause waiting on an English experiment. The 28 October Ministerial Direction is what stopped new public starts. This statement is why the pause is now timed to 2031.
PATHWAYS is not a green light. Queensland is waiting because the evidence was never there.
